In loving memory of our father
Surendra Bahadur Basnet
Mr. Surendra Bahadur Basnet was born on August 11, 1926 in the remote village of Dingla into a simple Nepali family. After earning his LLB, BSC and MSc from Banaras Hindu University in India, he returned to Nepal, where he had an illustrious career as a public servant, including the youngest judge in the Supreme Court of Nepal, election commissioner for the country’s first general election, Minister for Education and Law, Finance and Industry, and first chairman of the Press Council of Nepal. A true visionary, Mr. Basnet retired from civil service to establish Bahumukhi Krishi Farm, a pioneering private farm in eastern Nepal. At the age of 70, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to co-found Buddha Air, now Nepal’s leading domestic airline, where he served as Founding Chairman until his passing on December 25, 2022. A devoted leader and philanthropist, his legacy of compassion inspired the creation of Save Little Souls Foundation. Through this organization, we carry forward his enduring values of service and hope, honoring a life that touched and uplifted countless others.
